Travel guide: Naxos +photo journal

Summer in Greece

If you haven't already visited Greek islands I totally urge you for it! I've traveled to many islands in Cyclades but I have to admit that Naxos is definitely one of my favourites. I went there last week and I was very surprised by the island's natural beauty.

It is a perfect destination for relaxing and fun holidays with your lovebird, friends or family and it combines a multiple range of activities.
One of the things that impressed me the most was the landscape relief, which includes huge mountains and ancient castles and also beautifully shaped beaches. Also, Naxos is called the "windsurfers' hot spot", so don't miss the chance of having great fun through surfing.

You can see the remarkable tradition of the island by visiting the capital town, Hora (which is built amphitheatrically on the west side and has numerous shops, bars and restaurants), and  the picturesque villages such as Apiranthos, Filoti and Sangri. The tradition is also spotted in the wonderful cuisine which's competitive advantage in gastronomy products is the variety of cheese.

Last but not least, the island's impressive history. Naxos is full of ancient monuments and museums which represent the splendor of the island from Byzantine Times to Venetian Occupation and you should definitely visit them.
